97 F150 seat belt retractor

The drivers seat belt retractor on my 97 F150 Supercab doesn't retract very well and it squeaks when it does. What are my options? This is my first post here. Any information is appreciated.

I would pop off the plastic cover and inspect. Is a spring loaded ratchet clamp type arrangement. Maybe a few drops of WD40 in the right area would help.
