6.7 Coolant Leaks
#16
I have a feeling its been going on a little while just never paid enough attention. Kept seeing a "little" damp spot every now and then under the truck but just blew it off as something else. Plus the weather has been so back and forth in SC. I haven't had much need for heat until this morning going duck hunting. I have a 2012 F250 Lariat 4x4 with about 87,000 miles on it. Just surprised that that temperature gauge never got out of range or no other indication of overheating. I kinda think it has something to do with the up and down weather temps this year. Mine is way out of warranty so I will be doing it myself if its not to bad to get to. Any idea on that?

I can't remember off the top of my head but the powertrain warranty is longer than the bumper to bumper. I think it falls off at 60,000. Too bad it waited this long to fail.
I am not sure, but my dealer had in in at 8:00am and out by like 3:00pm the same day. I know everything is tight in there and I feel like I could do it myself in a few hours. I would've if they wouldn't have covered it. Just make sure you order the right pump and verify that is where it is leaking.

Mine has came on about every 20,000 miles or so since I bought my truck new. I have about 87,000 on it now. Dealer said it was normal and just a reminder to test the special additive (VC-12) that gets added to the coolant. From what I understand you have to have special test kit to check it. Mine just came on again also. Owner's manual gives all the specifics.

That reminder is just to perform the 3 tests per system on these trucks and has nothing to do with the amount of coolant in the vehicle.
If your dealer has told you that's normal, and to just reset the message, I would be leary of that dealer. The test are easy to perform and can be done yourself with the correct test kits in about 15 minutes or so. Do a search in here and you should be able to come up with other threads specifically about that subject.

How did this turn out for you? I have a leak that seems to come and go. however if I Rev the engine good it looks like the water pump leaks right next to the lower hose

Mike it still comes and goes, Im going to wait til its steady before I take it in because I am not paying for them to chase a rabbit..
