help. does my 460 need a valley pan or not?

Found my oil leak, and I also found out in order to fix my antifreeze leak I need to remove the Intake. .
Autoparts gave me a valley pan set. My gasket I put on a few weeks ago was just the heads and the ends. No pan. Can I use the pan? Does it matter? Use the gasket set and jus leave out the pan?

Help. Trying to fix it today

I used one on my 460 with the stock manifold. I think some aftermarket companies say not to use it with their units but I think they don't have an exhaust cross over. The pan is to keep oil from cooking on the bottom of the manifold. If you have the exhaust crossover I would use it.

Use the pan, always..

I've fixed a few coolant leaks on the intake and its always from over or under torquing the intake bolts. I usually don't use the gaskets just put a heavy amount of high-temp gasket maker on the ends of the intake where the gaskets would be. Let it set up then follow the proper torque sequence, then re torque after the motor gets up to temp and then cooled back down.

X3 on using the valley pan. Keeps the hot oil off the bottom of the intake as mentioned above. Even more so if your running an aluminum intake.

I know the long block came w a gasket set that didn't use the pan. So that's what's in it now. And when I spoke w the owner of our local machine shop he said with the aftermarket intake, to not use the pan.
With conflicting opinions, I guess I need to contact Wieland intakes.

FYI that leak is on the water pump bypass tube, which can't be removed without taking the intake or pump off.
My oil leak appears to be on the rubber front seal, originally I thought it was the distributor.
