Vac. booster rebuild parts.

Hey fellas, I have a Hy Power booster that I got off the donor truck up at the JY. Came off a 49 F5. Took it apart a little to see what condition it is in. The valve body has leaked a bit of brake fluid to the diaphragm side. The diaphragm seems to be in good shape but the spring in there is broke. Does anyone know where to get these parts? Looked on line and a few places can rebuild them but they want 150 for it. I feel this is something I can do myself if I had the parts. Any help is greatly appreciated.

Seems you and I are (were) in the same boat. I couldn't find the parts so I just had mine rebuilt. If you find someone let me know though. Would be nice to have the spare parts on the shelf!

Interesting read there CC. Where did you get yours rebuilt? And of course how much was it. I don't have a parts catalogue yet, but the Napa # should get me somewhere. Anyways thanks for the reply and info.

Going rate for a rebuilt booster should be $150ish. Call these guys! Booster Dewey Power Brake Booster Exchange Inc. I think you have a Midland like mine.

Edit #2: I believe a lot of guys are putting the 59+ boosters on their earlier models as the above thread indicated. If that's true, then this booster is one that will fit, and new costs less than a rebuild. Perhaps you can compare your model to the photos. See this C462C Midland at O'Reilly's for $134: http://www.oreillyauto.com/site/c/de...1305&ppt=C0066

Napa wants $254 for the same unit.

Mine was rebuilt by a buddy of mine who parted out his 1956 and had some spare parts left over. But I might just buy the above booster to keep on the shelf since it appears exact to my own. All of this I learned in the last hour from the earlier thread I mentioned. FTE is just full of surprises!

Yeah, mine is a Midland. I was looking on the web and saw Booster Dewey. I took mine apart somewhat and there was a dab of B/F in the diaphragm canister. Not a whole bunch, enough to dribble down to the bottom though. I'm comfortable with rebuilding it myself but still have to find the parts. Maybe tomorrow I'll call Booster Dewey and see what they say. My diaphragm is still in good shape. Washed it up in the kitchen sink and got yelled at. Oh well, not the first time. I looked at the O'really link but it didn't have a pic. Don't think I'll ever buy from them again after my last encounter. Thanks for the help, and have a good evening.

x2 for Booster Dewey. I had him do a booster for my 64 Thunderbird. The service was excellent and it worked great after. No complaints whatsoever.
