1999 F-350 Cruise Control Problem

Well, folks, I'm a newbie here, but not a newbie to Ford trucks.

Just picked up a 99 F-350 V-10 today. Decently clean, works well. It'll be an occasional tow vehicle for hauling my car to car shows.

Anyhow, on the way home, I couldn't get the cruise control to work. I've read about the brake pressure switch problem before joining today. I can hit the on button and set it, and the cruise indicator lights up in the dash and will stay on, but will not hold the speed.

From what I've read, I can't seem to determine if the brake pressure switch will allow the light to come on or not. Should I be looking elsewhere for the problem?

Next fix - overhead console. That one seems simple.

Check to see if the servo cable is connected to the throttle.

It's definitely connected. When I do the diagnostic test, in getting a heavy clicking sound under the hood but no movement in the pedal.

Bad servo perhaps?

Looks like the brake pressure switch recall has been done also.

Sounds like it might be a damaged gear in the servo. See if you can get an ear closer and determine for certain.
