E99 7.3 checkup

Hey guys,

I've got and early 99 F250 and the engine is coming out next week to do an oil pan, injectors, and glow plugs. I want to know if there is anything else I should be replacing or checking while this is all apart? I'm not sure if it matters but the injectors are stage 1.5's from FFD everything else is OEM parts.

Up pipes and manifolds. The pipes are spendyour Riffraff Diesel Bellowed Up-pipe Kit 94-Early 99 - Riffraff Diesel Performance but a one time purchase. If your manifolds are leaking about $60 at a machine shop will make them flat again. Not impossible to do with the engine installed but SOOOOOOOOOOOOOO much easier with it out.

When I had a 7.3 I frequented thedieselstop.com. Lot of experienced guys there willing to help out. It's where I first saw posts about Ford transmissions from former Ford transmission engineer Mark Kovalsky, who also posts on these pages.
If your 7.3 is stock, you may want to consider a bigger downpipe, another intake, a better turbo boot ( I used RiffRaff's) and possibly a tuner to wake it up. Had good luck with my DP Tuner.

I have a 4" down pipe already on and a hydra tuner going in with the injectors. The turbo boots are a good idea but I plan on doing an intercooler at some point later this year, so I'll probably just wait until then.

I'll take a look at the manifolds but unfortunately the up pipes are a bit out of my budget right now. I'll take a look atmine and see if I should do them later this year.

Thanks to both of you!!!
