96 F250 4x4 factory rear block height

Was the factory rear block height 2"? Mine has a 3" block plus 2 pieces of metal (probably old springs) they are 3/4" thk and 3/8" thk. (see photo)
Do those appear to be factory leafs.
I'm trying to figure out how much lift was installed by the previous owner.

that looks like a home made leveling kit.
there should not be anything between the block and springs.

Thanks guys. That's what I thought.

CTC01, I see you have 4 thin leafs. I only have three. My GVWR is 8800. The rear GAWR is 6084. Is yours rated higher?

Your truck looks high in the front. Dana 60 swap? I am guessing the taller block and shims are to level the truck.

All f250s of this generation are 8800b GVW and 6084 rear axle

It didnt matter if it came with 4 or 5 leaf, the CCSB and SCSB liked to come with only 4 leafs for the soccer mom ride

My GVWR is 8600 with 6084 on the rear. Mine does have a factory tow package. That may be the difference.

Dont know if my 10-95 mfd date has anything to do with the GVWR difference. According to window sticker it has HD front and tow package so it should be fairly HD.

Funny. Yours has the heavier 5 leaf springs with the tow pkg yet has a 200b less gvw. I swear to god Ford does some screwy things

Brad, No swap. It's still the TTB. That was going to be my next question.

The previous owner (who was the original owner) installed lift soon after purchase. I assume he used the rear 2" blocks, shaved off the bump stops, and put them in the front along with 1" of shims for 3" total lift. I know blocks in front are a real NO NO, but they have been there for 184,000 miles. He installed drop brackets for the pivots.
I assume the springs have weakened and settled because the tires have negative caster and there is only 3/4" - 1" of travel. At some point he installed dual shocks because it was hitting the stops. (Monroe sensa-trak for F350). This makes for a rough ride.

I thought about starting another thread to figure out what to do with the front.
I want to get rid of the blocks and install new lift springs.
The truck sits nose low. It could have a little more lift. About 1" more would help the caster. (I jacked it up at the bumper to see)
I'm guessing 4" lift springs would be about right. I will remove the extra shock. I want a nice ride.
Anyone have suggestions on the brand of lift?

Thanks.

OMG that is SO Illegal. I personally would NOT drive the truck like that.

Get yourself a dana 60 and fix it right

You have caster and camber confused.
I see rust coming from a dry rf axle joint

Bashby, I confuse them all the time.
All 3 joints were replaced not long after I got it. Sure hope I don't have to do that again for a long time.
