Thanks to what was posted in the thread below, I finally got around to working on the driver's seat on my 2005 Excursion.

Well, I put in a new driver's side seat track assembly, as well as a new switch, and the problem remains.....

Basically, the seat will move forward, back, and down (down vertical), it will tilt from the back or the front, but it refuses to go up (up vertical). I have to play with the tilt function to get it to go up.

All fuses are good, and all other power functions work (the pedals, memory setting, etc.).

About the only good the swap out did for me is harden me for the eventual seat reupholstering.

I'm stumped.

Anyone have a link to a power seat wiring diagram that might indicate where the "up vertical" wire is (if there is one)?

All I can think of now is that, maybe ,where the seat-side harness plugs into to the connector for the seat switch, that the wire there is corroded or pushed out (so a connection is not made). It looked good on visual inspection though.

 

One of my 00s had the issue in the forward/back switch. Had to play with it 10-15 mins some times to get it made up. I pulled the switch from the molding , flooded it with WD-40 & It's been perfect for 3 years & counting now
