New to Truck and Page.. have some questions!!

Hello Everyone,

I'm new to ford trucks and new to diesels also. I wanted to start hauling trucks or at least put someone on this truck to start off with. Anyways, I bought this used 2013, f350 dually not long ago, about 2 months ago. I haven't put many miles on the truck, But I noticed two things about the truck.
1. It makes this weird whining noise as the truck accelerates then stops making the noise or not as loud I guess.. Then the noise picks back up as I decelerate.
2. I got this code from a check engine light... ( I lost the freaking paper I had the code written down on so I can't say right now, But I did read that it was common and had to do with heat and something about fuel)

Anyways, with Question 1, If any of you have experienced this issue let me know. I want to know if this is something I can solve myself before calling up the dealer I bought it from and having to jump through hoops to get it fixed. And from what I can tell the truck rides like a dream.

Well, not sure what to make of your description.

The check engine light is what I would pursue to start with. Go to a local parts store and get it read that we can see what is going on. Perhaps you need to service the fuel filters.

Im going to check the code here in a little bit, but wanted to know about the whining noise, if this is common and how to fix it. If the replacing fuel filters is what will fix the noise then I will do that then.

Perhaps it is the hydroboost being low on trans fluid? Power steering pump? I can' really get a handle on based upon your description.

It could be a noisy turbo.
It could be the engine mounted fuel filter.
It could be the water pump or power steering pump.

Just take it in and have them go through it all. If you just bought it there should be shared responsibility at least. You should get the vehicle service history too, might be something there that was worked on or inquired about from the last owner.

Welcome to the forum, Gymbear31; congrats on your truck! As the others have suggested, I'd recommend returning to your dealership so they can inspect. I'll be happy to see what I can do to help as well. How many miles are on the truck currently?
