Question 2015 F-150 5.0 Oil Capacity

What is the crankcase oil capacity on the 2015 F-150 5.0 engine? The owners manual says 7.7 quarts and the Ford website says 6 quarts. What is the correct amount? Thanks!

Mine takes almost 7.5 liter, and i think a quartnis just small....so ahout 7.7 should be close. ...it takes way more than 6 for sure.

Would it be horrible if one puts in 8 qts? Would it upset the counterweights that have been carefully shaped to minimize oil slinging?

I personally wouldn't do it.
But it is unlikely that such a small amount over full would hurt anything.
The main culprits for an overly full crankcase are lack of air space for the pumping forces of pistons, so it can build up excessive pressure...and possibly blow seals. Also the crank throws can both froth the oil making it have excessive air bubbles etc...and its robbing power and increasing fuel burn if the crank has to slosh through the oil too much.
But again my uneducated guess is that overfilling such a slight amount likely wouldn't cause severe damage.
But I do not understand over filling on purpose.
That said I just slightly over filled my car yesterday by accident doing an oil change on it. I just drove it as is, but it is barely over, maybe 100 ml too much.

8 quarts put it at the "full" mark on the dipstick ('17). I owned a Subaru WRX a while back whos manual stated 4.4quarts but the dealers always did the full 5 and never indicated overfill...odd.

Some times there are also 2 different amounts of oil required listed.
With oil filter change, and without.
Confuses me, because it is stupid to not change the filter as well in my opinion. But it makes a difference for sure.
