2006 F150 V
Hi Guys:
So,
Here's the deal: 2006 F-150 XLT Crew. It has manual HVAC controls, with rear window defrost. I changed out the HVAC Dial unit. Here is why:
- The fan speed selector works just fine.
- The heat blend selector was broken. It was stuck in full heat.
- The Vent Selector works just fine.
I went to a wrecker and tried out a used HVAC dial unit to make sure that the blend selector was the problem (and not the blend door or motor). Indeed, on the new unit, the heat blend switch worked just fine, as does the fan speed selector. What is wonky, though, is the vent selector:
-When the switch is set to MAX A/C, it turns on A/C and recirc, but then it blows out of the windshield vent.
-When the switch is set to Panel, it blows out of the windshield Vent
-when the switch is set to Panel/Foot, it blows out of the Windshield and Panel
-When the switch is set to off, the system turns off.
-when the switch is set to Foot, it blows out of the Panel Vents
- when the switch is set to Windshield, it blows out of the panel vents.
So, obviously, the signal from the control unit is not properly reaching the vent selector motor properly. Is there some sort of calibration that must be performed?
BTW, I tried two different units, and both of them exhibited the same problems.
If I plug the original unit back in, the vents work normally, but the heater control remains broken.
Anybody?
