Transmission or Gear Lever Shiftier Problem --- Need Help!

Hi,

I have a 2005 Sport Trac RWD. It has about 130k miles on it.

Sometimes when I shift into drive and reach about 25mph it doesn't want to shift to the next gear. So I stop the vehicle put it back into park and back into drive. Usually this seems to fix it. Any ideas on what it could be and how I can fix it?

Thanks!

This is not going to be a gear lever issue, but rather something with the transmission.

If you're really lucky, and fluid and filter change might take care of the issue.

Armchair diagnostics here, but I would put the DTR sensor on the suspect list, along with a general check of the linkage/cable adjustment. Certainly something worth checking that should be simple and inexpensive to check. Some DTRs require a tool to adjust properly so don't just start loosening the screws. Do a search and see if you can find how to check it or get your hands on the manual and schematics. There may be ways to get around not having the tool.
