312 Y block head gasket?

Got to replace driver's side head gasket in my 312 Y block.

Not experienced with this motor in general and was wondering what best gasket to use. Read in the Charles Morris Y-Block rebuild book that he recommends the "Fel-Pro Blue".

I "guess" the Blue gaskets are the one's I see at Summit that are called "performance"..Anyway I don't see or find a "Blue" head gasket at Summit(or anywhere else on line..so far) for the 312 Y block..unless I'm just not seeing it, and was wondering if anyone has the part number that Charles Morris might be recommending.

Or do you have other ideas? about what's best. Not doing a rebuild. Just repairing a leaky head gasket.

Tom Good to hear from you again. Not sure if this is what you are looking for but the fel-pro gasket that Rock auto offers for the 1959 292 Y block is blue striped.
Also if this is a new to you engine you might confirm the head bolts are in the right holes, some are longer, I think the inside holes are the shallow ones(sorry its been a long time).
Good luck!

I believe NAPA deals the gaskets you are looking for. They also sell this copper base spray that goes along with them. I have used both with good results several times.

I bought the Fel-Pro PermaTorque Blue Stripe head gasket #7999PT at NAPA today. $23.19 plus tax (one gasket)

You could also buy this from Summit for $16.97 plus shipping depending on your total sale dollars etc.

The Summit number is FEL-7999PT.

I would expect this to be the gasket recommended in the Charles Morris Y Block rebuild book.
