I enjoy my HF radio in the truck, recently took a drive to California on buss. and noticed I had extreme high noise levels.

I was only able to hear the strongest of the strong signals.
I figure the truck has never had good maintenance in regards to electrical as the cluster lights dont work either.
The truck is overall in great shape. Was bought simply to tow horse trailer occasionally, otherwise was handed down to the daughter a few years ago, and then I purchased a couple months ago. no dents, and the engine maintenance records are complete, though not very impressed with some potential problems left unattended to.
the gas gauge works occasionally as well, I figure a stuck float in tank, and just need to drop it and replace.

anyways, back to the electrical issue.
any of you guys have such issues that you notice. If you listen to AM radio you would notice it but not so likely on FM.

 

I had weak stations and static on my 07 when I bought it a couple months ago. Found corosion where the antenna stock screwed into the base. Cleaned that and all is well.

 

Not quiet what I was talking about, but thank you, I will keep that in mind should i have issues with the truck radio.
