Seaching for 65-66 Ranger Emblems (ND help)
Hi guys, it's been a long time since I've posted anything on the board but I am looking for 65-66 Ranger emblems or the plastic inserts for them. I kinda remember that Carolina Classics was manufacturing the inserts years back but discontinued production due to lack of demand. That's why no restoration parts dealers carry them anymore. Does anybody know where I could find emblems with the plastic insert or the inserts alone? Number Dummy can you work your magic with the NOS sources? Thanks in advance...

At one time, dunno about now, Carolina Classics reproduced the plastic inserts, but FoMoCo never offered them, as they were only furnished with the complete assy.
These inserts are retained by tiny metal tabs which have to be carefully bent outwards, then inwards to R&R them.
1965 Ranger emblems are different than 1966. 1965 have FORD 100 (or 250) above the emblem. 1966 have FORD above, 100 (or 250) below encompassed within the emblem.
C5TZ-16720-J .. 1965 F100 Ranger Emblem / R/L same / Obsolete
C6TZ-16720-F .. 1966 F100 Ranger Emblem / R/L same / Obsolete
I'm certain that no one has repro'd the 1965 emblem, dunno about 1966. None of the usual sources have either NOS, but...
At one time, Early Ford Store in San Dimas had one or two NOS F100 Ranger emblems in a glass showcase, but I cannot recall what year they were.

Thanks for the info ND but I just got off the phone with Early Ford Store and they no longer have them I even called Carolina Classics and spoke with the owner about them and he told me that he has been out of stock for over 7 years. Dennis Carpenter even calls him looking for them but he had a huge amount made 25 years ago and it took 19 years to deplete the inventory. Same story has happened with the "Camper Special" plastic insert he had. I just ordered the last set he had of "Camper Special" along with a set of "Four Wheel Drive" and "Twin I Beam". Dennis Carpenter's website already show the "Four Wheel Drive" inserts as discontinued. I hate to give everybody bad news but I wouldn't be surprise if the "Four Wheel Drive" dries up too. I'll just have to keep any eye out on Ebay and the auto swap meets for a "Ranger" set.

Early Ford Store wanted 125 or 150 bucks each (cannot recall which) for the Ranger emblems, also had NOS Camper Special emblems for the same price.
And btw: I'd suggest driving to Early Ford Store and taking a look-see.
The showcase these emblems were in...has an all original 1934 Ford 3 window coupe parked in front of it, so it's hard to see into.
Plus...Bill, the owner...knows next to nothing about "newer" parts, since he specializes in 1932/48 parts. His son, who works there part time, knows even less.
It's worth the trip, as this place is also a museum for all things Ford and is located in the original 1916 Ford dealership building.
Hell, if I wasn't so damn sick, I'd drive there and take a look-see (it's about a 25 minute drive from my residencia-sans traffic). This is my favorite hang out for BS'ing about Fords.
btw part II: If you go there and look thru the piles of used (and some NOS) hubcaps, you won't find any for 1961/66's...cuz I bought them all several years ago.

I seem to recall that you loved the place, while "the little weasel" appeared to be lost (so what else is new? ).

I work near Classic Auto Parts in Oklahoma City (8701 South I-35) The Ranger emblems have been discontinued. I found mine on the shelf and decided to get them. The guy behind the desk commented that he still had 7 sets left. That was 2 months ago. Their number is 405-631-3933 or 800-654-3247.1 Not sure of the part # as I'm on the road and don't have my catalog with me.
