Water In The Valley....Is This a Problem?

I'm getting water in the valley after heavy rain and going through the car wash. I know it is water because I just repaired my fuel bowl drain valve and cleaned the valley. Went to the car wash and back and the puddle came back in the same place....it's in the middle of the valley, not the front pocket behind the bowl. It is clear and had the car-wash water smell.

I can't find any trail of where it is coming from, but I have an aftermarket cowl hood so I'm guessing that could be the culprit, or the cowl vents. Either way, if I can't chase it down and get it stopped....is water getting to the valley a problem? Do these blocks have a drain hole at the back that allows build up to leak down by the tranny like my '94.5 PSD did?

Also....can somebody point me toward where the driver's side lower cowl area drains to when it gets water in it? I can't see anything, and just want to check.

I have it all apart and am going to replace the weather stripping on both cowl pieces where it meets the windshield. Those are in bad shape and appear to be the culprit. Gonna go ahead an replace the hood weather strip while I'm at it.

I am not having any luck on the web....can somebody point to a source for the hood seal that mounts at the top of firewall, and also the two seal pieces for the cowl covers?

Fist off how far are you driving after going through the car wash?? If it is water it should dry up/evaporate pretty fast once the engine gets up to temp.

As for the drain. Anything in the valley will drain out the flywheel cover.

Flywheel cover being the crescent moon shaped tit one foot north of your oil drain plug.

My money is on the seal+plastic seal combo at the bottom of your windshield.

Take look at a friends car or google image search to see if you're missing stuff in that area.

Also, you could just drive up to a junkyard and look at those so you can pick up $2 worth of parts that should cost to fix it.

The car wash is less than a mile from home, so not enough time to evaporate. The rubber seals that attach to the top of the cowl covers and meet the windshield are trashed....has to be the cause. Is this REALLY not a part that can be obtained via the aftermarket?

Did you look at LMC or JC whittney. I know they sell all the seals for our trucks.

Call local service manager at dealership. If they feel like being nice they can fax you a detailed blow up of hood components with ford part #s.
