At the dealer getting the column, gear shifter, and ignition switch plus whatever other parts we need. Got my header panel today...was going to do my 05 grill and lights upgrade but now I just have a bunch of boxes in the garage taking up space!
Art, did you have a new multi function switch installed since the column was mangled?
Is the switch part of something? These are on the estimate as well as some cosmetic parts...
Ignition cyl
Ignition switch
Gearshift lever
Turn signal, Wiper controls, Hazard/4 way switch encompasses the Multi function switch @Nicmike recently replaced his. They have a tendency to wear out and it's something you could easily do as well.
Sorry to hear about your vandals/potential thieves.
I am not sure, there is a estimate for "column and parts to be repaired by Ford Technicians" at the bottom, so we shall see. I was also told that my PATS was not working so they are going to fix that as well. Who knows, I just want my truck back!
Cops found a discount tire receipt with my information in a town further down south from me....needless to say they were looking for me!
I almost missed this. Good thing I went back to look at your pics. It is TOO common for employees at alarm, tire and audio shops to copy your info after working on your vehicle after it is serviced/worked on IF THEY DECIDE THEY WANT IT OR SOMETHING IN IT...like the radio or audio system they just installed. When I was a young fella, I knew a couple of guys that worked in the car audio business. They would have people come in and order/install high $$$ stereos and components. They would then go to the customers house and steal the system they just installed. They knew exactly how to get it out QUICK - because they installed it.
I would bet my next paycheck that someone at Discount Tire flagged you for a visit from the local thieves guild. They were in your truck, liked it and decided they wanted it. I strongly recommend giving these places a family members address in another city far away, or a P.O. Box, when you go in for service, and don't keep stuff in your car with your address or phone number in it while in for service. They will look for that info if they are thieves on the side.
I guess they could do that, but how would they know where I worked? It hasn't been in Discount since last June, that was about the time I had the tires rotated and balanced. For sure lesson learned, I won't be carrying as much stuff with my information on it for sure!
So the dealer cannot get the new keys programmed to the PATS. I have a TS gearhead chip and advised they remove it, but I am not sure that would stop the programming. The other thing is I replaced the instrument cluster and never got it programmed to the truck...no need since everything works, or so I thought! The body shop was able to start my truck without the key. Either way when I left the dealer was supposed to be programming the cluster and go from there. I won't be able to stop by until Wednesday to check on it again.
