transfer case

The more important question is "Why"?
The most accurate answer I can muster is "Not easily." The transfer case outer casing is physically different. The electronics are more intricate than just a switch in the dashboard and an electronic case. There is a separate control module and the ECM needs the information from that module to adjust engine (and transmission shift in the E4OD) operational parameters between 2-wheel and 4-wheel drive.
With all that said, anything is possible. Enough time and money will get you anything you want. A donor truck would be the place to start because there is a good deal of electronic equipment in addition to the t-case that will be needed.
