D44 axle seal job
I need to fix a leaking seal. I've never done this job before and I was going to use these instructions
Is there anything I need to be aware of or should do extra while I am doing this job?
Tips/tricks?
This seal has been leaking for a while so I'm not sure what I will see when I open it up. So would there be any more parts I may need to replace due to being negligent in fixing the leak in a timely fashion?
I don't have the best of luck when it comes to getting breaks so I am going into this job with worst case scenario and hoping for the best.

Some things don't get much response.
This seal job is as depicted in your link? You have to pull the carrier?
IF SO I would take it to a shop that specializes in doing repairs on those kinds of axles.
Resetting the ring and pinion is a chore that requires specialized tools. I had an Ford 8" done at a Ford dealer and it took him over an hour of fiddling to get that pattern right.
Not what you want to hear, but that howl out of the gears won't be musical either.
Good luck with it.

Wow I sure hope that isn't the case, or else you're right it's off to a shop because it's above my paygrade.
Everything I have read makes it seem like you just drop the carrier out, and put it back in like it came out. No mention of resetting anything.
My main concern before you brought this up is; Can the gear oil wash out any bearing grease in other parts of the axle?
Attempting to come up with a parts list and an idea of total parts cost.
Ideally I'd like to just throw all new parts on the entire front end but I don't think I can swing that financially this summer. I need to make it happen soon though so I can stop filling the transfer case with gear oil everytime I think I might need to engage 4x4.
She leaks its out almost as fast as I pour it in.
