For those of you that have a 2015

I have not been on for a while been super busy with work which is a good thing.....anyway I have done some searching but cannot find any info on Failed exhaust sensors in the new trucks.

Have any of you guys had a failed egt sensor on a '15? I thought I read somewhere there was a TSB that corrected the "shut down" mode on the previous trucks. Is that true? If so I assume that change is already on the '15s?
Anyway I have just under 6k on my 2015 and I love this freaking thing. I have been thinking about popping out the 4 sensors to anti seize them but I think if I touch it I may cause a problem lol.
So my questions:
1- Any 2015 egt failures?
2- Does the failed egt sensor still shut the truck down on the '15s?
3- If any of you have applied anti seize and had a failed sensor did the dealer say you may have caused the failure because you took it out to apply the anti seize?

Thanks

there is a recall for the 2011-2014 models to 'improve the drivability' concerning the exhaust sensors, but exactly what that means we are not sure.

I haven't seen any reported disablements on a 2015.
1 no
2 don't know
3 never heard anyone say this

I have not touched the sensors on my 2015 and have not had any issues over the first 9700 miles. The Beast will get another 900 miles on it this weekend, it has been an awesome rig so far. I never had any issues with my 2012 either.

I believe I read of an issue with a '15 somewhere but I believe it was a cab + chassis model which has different tuning.

I bought two spare sensors, an extra 21mm Flare Wrench and I removed and applied anti-Seize...

No faiures here...

There is an extra sensor installed on the 2015 that is not on the earlier trucks.
It is in the tailpipe as it kicks up over the rear end (picture below).
Given the additional sensor, that implies different programming to address that sensor.

that sensor is used to look for carbon particles escaping the DPF,
basically checking on the functional performance of the DPF.

Right - which I think you'll agree would more than likely take additional programming within the ECU / PCM that the 2011-2014 would not have..

That's the point I was trying to make.

The changes that they are pushing into the earlier trucks may have already been programmed into the 2015. We'll likely never know for sure...

yes, the delete programming for a 15 will be different than for the earlier year models

The sensor failures on the 11-14's were in the 40, 50, 80, 120k range, not 10 or 20k.

The antiseize might make it easier for you to change a bad sensor on the side of the road, maybe not. Usually a tech needs to get the bong pretty hot with a torch to get the sensor out, and the antisize might keep a sensor from breaking off. If you are stuck on the side of the road and the sensor is stuck, with or without antisieze, you can just plug in but not screw in a new sensor and that will get you to a shop where it can be removed with a torch.
