Mercury M6 VIN decode help
Well the Merc M6 that came with my M-H F5 as a parts truck, was just going to be that, until I found an old original and still ledgeble registration all folded up in the ashtray. I wasn't really interested in the VIN before as it was just going to be parts, but this could be saved now from oblivion. The VIN doesn't look like the standard formats, so I haven't the foggiest. It is supposed to be a '52
SMA81AHP32003
Style C2C-81A Body 22231 ICCP1242
So gurus? It doesn't have the engine or tranny anymore, but does have an original Anthony dump hoist for a grain box on the back.
Anyone interested in it as a project? Otherwise I might just part it out and use some of the sheet metal for the M-H.
Cheers

It's the standard format for Canadian trucks of it's era.
SM=M6 158" wb truck
A=conventional truck
81=Cab and Chassis
A=standard trim
H=Build at Home Office Windsor Ont.
P=1952
32003=Consecutive unit number
The plate in the corner is a mystery. Some of it can be guessed at, as the 81A part matches part of the vin codes, but the rest has apparently been lost to time.

Thanks Merc,
Exactly the info I was looking for.
Now just the question of using it for parts, or keep it intact and let someone else restore it. I know there aren't as many guys restoring the big ones, but it would be a bit of a shame to use it for parts, then scrap whats left.
I know parting it out would help others as well though, as well as my M-H project.
Thoughts?
