How are the headlights on the 15's?

Kind of an oddball question. May consider trading the wife's Explorer Sport as we miss the room the expy has.
Anyway, a main issue with the Explorer is the not so great headlights. It has the Halogen projectors. Hid were not an option on the Sport. Strange for a $50k vehicle. My F150 has HID and they are like daylight. We are likely targeting a Limited. Not sure if HID are even an option. Still need to research. Regardless, I don't recall ever having an issue with our 08 expy with lighting. Just wondering if those of you with a 15 have any input.
Thanks.

Both low and high beams are much, much brighter than my 2013. Upper cut off line on the low beams are remarkably straight.

For MY16-17 the XLT trim has "Quad-Reflector headlamps",
. the Limited, King Ranch & Platinum trim, have "Halogen projector headlamps"

Do the MY15 trims all have the same factory headlamps?

Hids are sick good not sure why ford went to the leds. In my opinion they don't hold a candle to the 13-14 hid

The headlights on my 2016 were almost a deal breaker. They are so pathetic after coming out of a car with LED lights. The LEDs can be designed to throw a perfect beam without blinding oncoming drivers. Plus low wattage and lower heat are side benefits. The after market LEDs just change the color/temp of the light - they don't focus the beam like a factory installation should. I am hoping the redesigned Expedition coming improves this area.

I'm the OP and in fact we did purchase a 15 Limited shortly after my post.
The Expy now has 21k and we absolutely love it. Lighting isn't terrible but certainly not HID or led level. But I haven't felt a huge need to upgrade. I'd say the 18 redesign will offer much more modern lighting as well as other needed changes.
Overall, the expy has been a good move for us. We are on a mini vacation in Gatlinburg TN and love the room. And I love the EB. Going through the WV turnpike (lots of hills) and we sat at 17.6 mpg. Once we hit I81 and it flattened out, it climbed to 19.1. And it has some power for sure.

We just bought a '15 Limited to replace our '15 XLT that was totaled. Was excited to get what I thought were HID lights, but evidently not. Still seem to have good light. Wouldn't mind trying to replace bulbs to match the LED dogs.

I actually think my 15' low beams are not that great. Halogens. I just ordered some new bulbs, Sylvania Silverstar Ultras, and will see if they are any better than the factory Phillips H11. I have a 93' Ranger and an 88' Suburban and would say they are both better on low beams.

High beams are great though, just wish there was a way to jumper the fogs to run with high beams like I did on my Excursion.

I believe US DOT limits the number of illuminated forward white lights on the highway to 4 at any time.

Yeah, I've heard different laws in different states but my Excursion had a single dual filament bulb for high and low beam but Ford still design it to shut off the fog lights when you switch to high beams. So that was 4 lights total with low beams and fogs or 2 lights when on high beams.

I figure if my high beams are on what does it matter what other lights are on since I should only be using them when not driving towards someone or offroading.

I put LEDs in my 2015 Expy and they are great since I live in the country. Bought from Xeon HIDs. Had to modify a little the high beam case. My son just put them on his 2015 Expy and loves them.

Did you need the dash warning light cancelers for the extra $10?

I just want the low beams, are they noticeably brighter than the factory low beams?

Tons brighter. Matches the LED fogs. I did get the cancelers. May not be needed in some applications, but didn't want to wait if they were needed.
