I have an opportunity to buy a truck that was stolen and stripped. Here's pics the seller sent of the engine and some stuff left in the bed. Can anyone tell what's missing besides the turbo and battery? What is that metal cover and gasket laying in the bed? And that small square filter - is that the cabin filter?




What should I be worried about with a truck like this? I'm guessing the HPOP never got opened up. Is part of the A/C missing, and would yanking that part off mess up the rest of the A/C?

What would I do going forward - check for an old STC fitting while the turbo is off? Delete the EGR if it isn't already? Drain/flush oil/coolant?

 

Batteries, Injectors and FICM look MIA.

rails most likely are also.

That small filter is actually the a/c evaperator core. Looks like the Maff and Map is gone.
Inlet CAC pipe missing what else I can't really tell.
Definately needs a/c work. The rest is up to you and your pocket book.
Now how did I miss the FICM its not really small LOL.

 

at I dont see is an alterntor, on the plus side it looks like there is two degass bottles. The one close to the bed looks newer..

 

PCM is gone too? Looks like the connectors are loose

 

Vacuum pump is also missing.

 

Can you see the injectors missing, or just guessing? Are the valve covers off? Either way, I'm going to go look at it Monday so those are all things to confirm. Just thinking that I've torn the top off of mine so many times that I oughta be able to put this one back together.

I thought it might just be turbo and batteries because these weren't professional thieves - they left the interior with pretty good Lariat leather. Maybe they just grabbed the turbo they needed and whatever came off with it.

 

Is that the hole behind the passenger-side battery? Is there some reason one would take that off to get to something else more valuable?

Even as scrap they are worth some money, not a real lot but some.

 

yep, they left all kinds of valuable stuff on it. I'm thinking it was kids.

 

If the FICM.Turbo and Injectors are gone I would pass.
That small collection of parts is some BIG bucks without the core

Well, the truck is on auction, so it all depends on what the other bidders do. I'm hoping that they are scared off by the unknown and it goes real cheap. The current pre-bid is only $2000, but that doesn't mean much. The real bids come when the auction goes live. We'll see.

I might be able to buy some junker parts to use as cores, but that's a great observation.
