Ford 9 inch Axles

Greetings all.

I have searched the forums but cannot find an answer to this question:

Do all Ford 9 inch differentials have two different axle lengths??

I have a 1970 F-1 differential and axle housing in my F-1 but if I remember correctly both axles were the same length.

Thanks

I think some Econolines had equal axles, not sure why.

All the '57-'72 F-100 axles had equal length shafts.

Ach, you're right, I was thinking "centered pinion", which actually requires unequal shafts.

Not too related, but also don,t see much in search...
Are you using the emergency brake cables original to the truck with the 9 inch?

F-1 e brake cables work with a 9 inch rear.

9 inch axles

All, Thanks for your help. I was getting worried that I perhaps had an issue.

I used the original rear brake cables with the 1970 F-1 housing in my F-1 and they worked fine.
