To Whitewall or not to Whitewall? Vote

So I'm knee deep in my T5 transformation on my 49 F1 and I see some Whitewalls posted on Craigslist.
Wide whitewalls 7.10-15
Now, Old George needs some new shoes really bad. He has one good one and the rest are done, but since I decided to put in the T5 I don't have the cash to get the tire/wheel combo that I really want. So I'm thinking these may be a good substitute for a few years until I can upgrade, however it's hard to figure out if they are the look that a guy wants or not without seeing them on the truck. So I decided that a little tire foam might give me a glimps of what he would look like with the WWs. What do you guys think? Should Old George go the way of the Whitewall? If you have pictures of yours please post them here as well.

Before:

After:

The seller said that they are from the 70s and he ran them tube less until last year. I'd probably throw in tubes if I bought them. Any input you have on these old bias-ply tires and tubes would be appreciated. Cast your vote now! Thanks

I like them both ways, it depends on the truck, I don't think I would want to run tires that old they have to be pretty dried out. Just my opinion.

Tires from the 70's may not be good.... look for dry rot and cracks on the sidewalls.....

If they meet your immediate needs and help decide your long term plan, go for it.

I would be very careful with that old of a tire. The look is up to what you want the truck to look like.

Real trucks don't have WWs.

Old tires only if it is a trailer queen. Just a FWIW and I realize it is to sell tires but I get service reminders from the Ford dealer that services my modern car, that tires should be replaced at six years.

I have never liked whitewalls on these old trucks, so my vote would be no, but than it is your truck and if you like them than do it, should only matter to you. On the note of the age of these tires I would definitely say no to those tires, buy new ones for your safety.

Tires from the 70's are a definite no no in my book. I also do not like whitewalls on a truck. My 2 cent's. Good Luck.

I'm not a big fan of whitewalls, especially on a truck with patina. New shiny paint, it looks OK to me, but as Ray said, a real truck works to hard for whitewalls.

I would be concerned with tires that old. Now, that is probably half the price of new tires. So, they could hold you over for a while if they are safe. If you don't like the whitewalls after a while, just turn them around. He says sidewalls show some age, how long will they last? New tires will last a long time.

I would be very surprised if you can get any shop to mount tires that old. They will likely rip when they try to get them over the rim.

I think before I ran 40 year old tires, I would get a set of port-o-walls, or even try some white wall paint on your current tires.
Seriously, tires that old are too dangerous to be on the road.

Depending on the truck, and if other mods have been made, white walls could look great and add to the overall look of a custom truck. On a restored bone stocker, they would be out of place. In your case, I think they could be fine. But I would questions the seller's claim of age. They may be from the 70's, but the 7.10x15 size went obsolete in 1964 when tire companies revised sizing nomenclature. They may well be older than you think. For rollers around the garage, fine. If you want tires to drive on, I'd think hard before running these.

Beauty is in the eye of the beholder. If you like the wide white wall, get some.

Just don't get those. I seriously wouldn't run tires that old on the road. They look like they're already cracking where the sidewall meets the tread.

I say no to the white walls but if you must have them check out diamond backs.

Since you asked our opinion, my vote is no to whitewalls on a truck.
