Alarm choices?

Hey all I am trying to pick out a alarm for my truck and was wondering what yall have if ya do? When o was a kid my dad had a mint 76 that was rolled out the drive a block away where they popped the ignition where we found on ground the next day. 15 years later I now own the house and have my own truck and am thinking I may need one since his truck was never recovered. . Never know I'd be willing to bet it's still driving or parted out lol beautiful truck two tone red n white with brand new long block 302. Thanks for your time.

On my old 78 I added a hidden toggle switch that when closed didnt allow power to the starter solenoid. Every night when I got out I just closed the switch and the next morning I'd flip it back up. Just a cheap way to go about it...other than that I've never heard of anyone doing like a Viper alarm or something similar on one of these trucks but I'd like to see it done.

I think most people ignore car alarms these days - they worked in the early-mid 90s when they were a novelty, but now people see them as a nuisance and ignore them because of all the false alarms. I'd go for something more like an ignition disable circuit (could be sneakier and disable the coil rather than the starter).

I will say, on vehicles with power door locks, the keyless entry is nice though - I installed an alarm system on my '84 Mustang just for that feature.

You can install 3 toggle switches in series and it creates a "code" that has to be matched for the ignition circuit to be complete.. makes it a little harder than sniffing out just one switch

Like this:

The left switch gets the ignition on signal from the key

The switches in my diagram must be (ON OFF ON)

The right switch sends the signal on its way to the ignition

You can make them on on off, off off on, ect ect..

Iwill do that I am going to buy some switches now but I seen an alarm system on Amazon that has door lock actuators so I can have power locks on my truck that would be pretty cool

I put an alarm in my truck, but not in hopes that it will protect it from thieves when I'm not around. I want it so that if somebody tries to break in at home I will hear it.

Believe me I won't be ignoring it if it goes off in the middle of the night - neither will my German Shepherd once I let her out.
