New truck 150 miles away from dealer

Hi guys

Found out my new truck is 150 miles from my dealer. The dealer tells me they can't pick it up.

This was a custom ordered 2015 f350 drw. Dealer says another two weeks for delivery?

Does this sound on the up and up?

Depends.

I've seen vehicles sit at the rail yards and what not for weeks at a time. Dealer's can't just go in and pick them up either. It happens.

What causes a delay in those instances? Original eta was 3/28, then 4/11, now 4/15

The wait will make your appreciate it even more! I also have one on order. I look at it this way, I've lived without it for 47 years so what's another few weeks or years. At the end of the day we'll end up trading them off in a few years and move on to the next adventure. Start the worrying all over again.

Good luck with your truck!

If it's on a railcar I feel for you... In a past life I've waited two weeks for a railcar to move three hundred yards on several occasions because of scheduling. The mysteries of the American rail system are unfathomable to all but the fellow who drew it up..

Oh.... I've also had them tell me two weeks and it show up over night... talk about a mess.. I let all the techs head out on another job. This caused me to have to pay demurrage charges..

I'm mostly guessing but either the rail yard won't release the shipment to the carrier or they're waiting for a full load. I agree with Pocket, it does happen quite often.
I discovered arrival dates don't mean anything. My truck took 12 weeks in 2010 and I lost track of how many dates I received. Mine didn't even have to touch a train as it left KTP and only had to travel down I65.

Those scenarios happen all the time. Larger dealers usually get their shipments quicker because they fill loads faster than the smaller stores.

The only date I paid any attention to was the build date after I ordered my truck and got it on the schedule. Nothing else mattered because it changes daily.

Mine sat at the railhead in Laurel MT for over 2 weeks waiting to fill up a transport truck.

If there is a next one........I'll order from the highest volume dealer in the country.

Thanks Roy. I feel better knowing it sounds fairly common for these delays

My truck was delivered to the rail head close to the KY truck plant on 14 May and not delivered to my dealer until 21 Jun. The original delivery date was 28 May. I bitched enough that Ford gave me a 3yr 36000 mile prem service plan for oil and filter changes.

Wow now I am worried. My DRW F350 is supposed to be at the dealer on April 22nd. My new RV will come off the line on April 17th and be at the dealer around 27th. I have already removed my hitch out of my F250 so maybe I won't have a tow vehicle!

Just sucks to have to wait....not confident that it won't move again....called ford customer relations, just to document frustrations, but now I have to wait.

Dealer said they called their rep and asked for it to be marked priority, but I think that was just to make me feel good, I don't anticipate it to move it quicker.
