I think it would be good a good idea if it's financially possible Jim. I'll be moving to Oregon for school this fall. There's a lot of pluses in your situation up there.

Where in Oregon are you thinking?

Yes indeed, there are a lot of pros, and a cons. I would be moving to Madras, which is northern Oregon. However, I don't think my section 8 voucher would be good up there, or the housing assistance I qualify for at West Care. Those two cons would all but eliminate my chance to go up there. Unless I share an apartment with my brother. He suggests I go up and visit for a week or two to check out the area first. That can't happen until I get a vehicle though. Another thing I just thought of is that he has been having all kinds of problems with the VA hospital up there, and I have had none with the one down here.

Oh man. Way up there. I dont know how much time you've spent out there but east Oregon can be kinda hard living. One of the reasons I like western oregon is the climate is a little milder than where I am right now. Winters are just a little warmer and summers are just a little cooler.

Anything by Bend though is just downright cold though.

Haven't spent anytime living out there. Last time I was in Oregon was 1968 and I was 10 years old. and, we only went to Klamath Falls, because at the time my dad owned property near there.

My mom was actually born in Klamath Falls. Half of my family was just south of there in Butte Valley on the California side.

Our property was north of Klamath Falls, however, I don't know exactly where. My dad bought 10 acres from a door to door salesman back in 1968, and we went up to look at it. It had a lot of lava rocks on it, and it was pretty open with some trees near the back 5 acres. My dad was so mad that he stopped making payments on it, and let them repossess it. Haven't been to Oregon since.

However, my brother is the outdoors-man type, and he loves Madras. He also loves the four seasons up there but does admit it gets too cold in the winters sometimes. I think I will just visit in the spring or summer, and leave it at that. LOL.

Happy Taco Tuesday Nor Cal FTE and friends. Enjoy the wind yesterday? Nice and clear today with a high of 71 as opposed to the 84 it was yesterday. Beautiful weather at the moment.

Still windy here, but not as bad as it was earlier. Was a great day nonetheless.

Our government dollars at work:

My brother received his award letter from SSDI today, and they state he will be receiving his first disability payment on or about the 3rd Wednesday of May. Then they tell him they are withholding his back pay award because they want to make sure he has not received any SSI payments. The SSI people stated they have a policy that they cannot make a decision until SSDI has made theirs. So, common sense would dictate that there cannot possibly be any money given him by SSI. And since SSI and SSDI are both social security, it is not hard to check the computer system to see if he had received any SSI payments. It truly boggles the mind how stupid these people really are....
