No start 1994.5. 7.3 379,000 miles 2wd
Hello all I have a 1994.( that has a no start problem I have checked all the fuses and have fuel in tye filter at the top of the motor and I was wondering what would be the next step. It looks like I have no injection into the cylinders as there is no smoke exiting the exhaust. If you have fun into this please help.

First off, we should welcome him to FTE! I didn't do that right off. Welcome to FTE! We are glad you found us! Some of the things we say on here may not be well understood for new folks on here, and for that, I'm sorry. The tach not moving is a sign that the Cam sensor is bad, or possibly a bad plug at the sensor. New sensors can be found at all parts houses, HOWEVER, the Motorcraft and International ones are the only ones that seem to work best. Usually found at the Ford dealerships or International dealerships.
The HPOP is the High Pressure Oil Pump. What I was referring to was the reservoir for it, which sits on top of the motor in front. It's that flat piece of metal (aluminum) just behind the fan belt but a little higher. There's an allen screw on the top of it. You can remove it and look down inside. Oil should be within 1 inch from the top. DO NOT TRY STARTING IT WITH THAT PLUG REMOVED! If there's no oil in there, the HPOP can't pressurize the injectors and they won't work. Also, do not use any oil additive. While there are a few exceptions, most interfere with the oils ability to work like hydraulic oil in order to fire the injectors. It causes the oil to foam up.

Thanks for the welcome
As for the HPOP I will check it in the morning and see as I made it home to late to check. The tach is working so I will work with the HPOP tomorrow to see what I can find I just had to repair the dipstick flange on the pan and its parked at an angle right now so maybe one of these had something to do with it. I'll let you know what I find thanks all

Ok so I checked the oil I was about three inches low I filled it back up with plans to replace the oil in it as soon as I can get it to the garage I a. Ha in to charge the batteries as my father ran them low trying to start it to move it. Once they are charged I'll try it turns over now just slowly and I believe it needs to spin faster to get the HPOP to re pressurize the system again I'll let you know what I find. Oh and a little ha k ground I worked as a big rig diesel mechanic before taking a teaching Position at my old school. So I know most of what your talking about I've been elbow deep in many Mack and Volvo engines just not any powerstrokes until now. Thanks for all the advice and help

If you just recently changed the oil, why change it again? If you're thinking the HPOP oil is separate from the motor oil, it's not.
As to the batteries, you need something like 10.4 volts for the injectors to fire. Yes, the motor needs to turn over faster to start, but you also need the good batteries to fire the injectors. When you're cranking the motor, you also have a drain on the batteries from the glowplugs that drop the volts too.

You saw the powerstroke help guy! At one time, he was good at convincing people that the HPOP oil was a separate oil system, and that the oil never gets changed. That is simply false. It used the same oil as the rest of the motor. Not going to say it ain't a bad idea to do once in a while, but it's not nearly as important as just simply changing the oil on a regular basis, and using good quality oil and filters. I have done it before, and if you go long overdue between changes, it does get more dirty oil out of the system by sucking it out. That said, I personally wouldn't mess with it till your next oil change. Because right now, all you will be doing is sucking out the fresh oil you just put in it.
