There is still a tour program at Ford's Rouge plant in Dearborn, watch part of final assembly of F-150s.

Well, pulled the trigger on slide toppers today. Got the good Dometic ones with full aluminum case around the roller end. They weren't cheap but I'm trusting they will be a good addition to the rig. From what I see, the only ones who have big issues are those who camp at the coast with no wind breaks.

Rodney.........I camp in Montana in the open with 50 mph winds one evening. Not much noise and no damage.
25 mph winds......nothing.

anyway.......if you don't like them, blame in on Carl.......

Will do Sarge. I've read there is a range of how many turns you can safely do based on the size of the awning. The starting point is just that and they do stretch in after some time. Because people generally don't install them themselves, they never think to put a few turns on them to tighten them up. I'm betting this is where a lot of the wind complaints come from. I read one guy who after one rain storm gave both sides 4 turns and then another 4 after the next storm. Then it was perfect and no more sagging or flapping in the wind. An additional 8 turns to each side from the initial setup recommendation and he was still within acceptable spec from the manufacturer. So, these aren't just set it and forget it from the day of installation. They will be eventually, but you will need to tune them a bit in the beginning to get them right...

Not my fault. I didn't wash my bike.

Rodney, let me know how you like them. I am considering them.

Exactly. As I stated before, I won't ever have a slide without them again.

I believe there is a video on YouTube somewhere that shows how to adjust them once the material starts to stretch.
