Fuel Filter Question

Went to change the fuel filter on my 1995 F150 today and it does not have the special clips to hold it on. Sometime in its past either a previous owner cut them off or Centurion did it when they stretched the frame. Either way its held on by hose clamps and some rubber fuel line that runs it to the factory Ford hose...

Is this ok? I am guessing its a prev owner because its less that 5" of rubber fuel line on each side of the fuel filter.

Thoughts...Ideas...

I would put new hoses on it, the kind for fuel injection pressure, but other than that if it made it this long it's probably just fine!

Be absolutely certain the hose used is marked "R9", "Fuel Injection Hose", NOT "R7", "Fuel and Emissions Hose"! The R7 is NOT RATED for fuiel injection pressures! impish

'93 150- 6

Don't know how to post a question, FAQ don't tell me anything, so I hope I won't get banned for writing this here...Went to change a fuel filter on a 93 150 that my neighbor bought from his brother. Should have followed my first instincts and told him to do with it as it is. But.... I noticed a wire wrapped around one hose, then across the filter and wrapped around the other hose. I cut it and fuel began to run out. I let it drain, and then put the "tool" on filter to take hose off. Hose fell off. Nothing inside that looked like fingers or anything to hold filter in. The other end, (tank end), the hose had a wire thingy inside, but the filter almost fell off. My queston is this, are these the right lines?? I thought the hose was supposed to have 4 fingers inside I had to depress to get hose off.
I noticed the pic with a jury rig. Should I go this way??
Thanks for listening
Nick
