Horn relay. Which one is it and how to test?
Posted this in Excursion forum but no responses, so trying the 6.0 forum.
My horn isn't working. The under-dash fuse is OK and was going to check the horn relay, but can't figure out which one it is despite numerous FTE and Google searches. I pulled the cover on 2 power distribution boxes under the hood, driver's side. One box has 2 relays. The other has 4. Which one controls the horn? How do I test it? Thanks. Here's the pic:

Wow that is interesting never work on any KR. I have the diagrams for 03;04;05 but no others and all from the most common cheap truck Ford had. LOL
As for testing the most common way is substitute a know good one. However there is a special test relay that has cutouts to use a DVOM on.$

I should have the 05 Ex manuals just give me a few and I;ll edit this with the
diagrams if I can find them.
Sean
EDIT : Looks like I don't have the right set to cover the 05 Ex
But if you look at the 04 Ex the relay is part of the CJB and looks
to be one of the non-servacable ones that are part of the CJB.
Look at connector C270a,C270h and fuse F2.35 @ 15A
I am going to post both the 04 & 06 diagrams they are more or less the same. 44?1.2 is the 06 diagram the other two are the 04 ones.

Solved.
A funny thing happened on the way to fixing my horn:
Followed advice given here.
**Fuse....check.
**Back probe yellow/green wire on appropriate connector on under-dash central junction (fuse) box...power when horn pushed on steering wheel...check.
**Disconnected plug from horn in right front wheel well (PITA to reach, btw). 12v at the plug when horn pushed...check.
Hmmmm....Horn bellow gone bad? Sounds odd, but whatever. So off to auto store for off-the-shelf replacement. Install by tapping into "hot" near existing horn plug. Plug wires back into OEM horn bellow to keep plug clean and .... and ... and...
Both horns work. Both the OEM and off-the-shelf.
Must've simply been a loose plug to begin with. Dooh!
Now I have a 2-note horn.
Thanks again for the advice. Reps sent.
