no icp truck for sale

Would you consider a 2006 F250 with no icp? It says it had egr and oil coolers replaced 2 years ago. Head gaskets under warranty. It has 150k.

Its a crew cab short bed with 4x4 and aftermarket wheels.

WHat are the possibilities of cause? Hpop, STC fitting, ??? I know the 7.3 pretty good but not the 6.0 as much as you folks do.

I think the price is little high @10900.

Price is high but there are only a few things that cause no or low icp on the 05+. Stc and dummy plugs are the most common. Unless somebody had been inn there. The hpop rarely go bad on the 05+ but it can happen. The worse case is the stc blew and broke the branch tube and rear cover.

I think the stc and branch tube can be fixed w/o pulling motor. What about rear cover? That is a new on on me. I have been around them but always plenty of other work to do so never worked on the 6.0 aside from egr valves.

man that's a deal! I paid 6500 for mine but it did run and drive. Just had some front end body damage.

Engine can stay in but trans would have to be pulled. Then the rear cover. Then there are some bolts that are tricky to get to with the heads on. Usually the branch tube just gets tweaked a little from what I've seen and can bee reused. But until it's air tested you just won't know.

And they don't always break the rear cover when they go. The pulling the trans thing is if you need to do the rear aluminum engine cover. The STC itself can be done from the top.

And it can also be even simpler things like a bad ICP sensor or pigtail. Does the seller offer any intel. on doing diagnostics? (like they have done some and just want to dump it due to expense). Or anything else you can tell about the history on it?

And you should talk a deal on a non-runner, since you are taking the big chance here...

You could pull the ICP plug and try a start, but then if it does and the owner is there, the price just went up

On edit: with no ICP signal the PCM assumes a default value of 500psi, so if there actually is HPO to fire the injectors it could start or try to start, that is why you try the simple pull the plug test. Clarify if you are seeing zero ICP, low ICP or moderate (say 200 psi) when cranking? From what I recall: low or no ICP is a big leak like the STC failing or bad ICP Sensor (they do fail) or pigtail, whereas if you just don't have quite enough to have the PCM fire the injectors, it could be several other HPO leaks, like dummy plugs or stand pipes or injector o-rings, that sort of thing...

Too much for my blood not running. Note if it is the branch tubes the tranny has to come off and the back plate removed to get to the bottom connections on the tubes.
