Damn this thing is a head turner!

Guess what I did yesterday

05 Black Limited 6.0

Spent about 4h in it yesterday driving it home and I am in love! It drove great and it turned heads at every stop especially once I got back into the city. Guess people don't see too many of them around any more and it is a damn good looking truck even if it is 10yrs old. Sun is just coming up and it's still sitting in the driveway so it wasn't a dream.

I'm already compiling a shopping list in my head

1. Headlights, the oems are not all that bright and I like bright lights especially on long middle of no where night trips. Window shopping for now, thinking maybe some thing like this
Anzo® 111117 - Ford Excursion 2005 Black CCFL Halo Projector Headlights
Guess tails too not to look retarded, party up front and old school in back.
2. Cargo matts. Had Weathertechs on my last truck and loved them but for some reason I can't find 2nd row Digital Fit ones?? Only front (and two singles not even some thing to cover that middle hump) and a cargo liner that goes up to the 2nd row. Are they just not making them anymore for 2nd row? What gives!
3. It's missing a couple hub covers
4. Possibly newer looking tow mirrors
5. Does any one make hard cover cases for that spare wheel?
6. A new double din with navi and cam as much as that oem makes me feel nostalgic it has to go
7. Maybe at some point new running boards, these ones seem weird and thin like I'm going to slip off of them or maybe I'm just used to the big ones I had on the last truck
8. Some sort of a tuner, but I gotta learn diesel 101

I'm sure the list will grow

If you just want to replace the lights for looks I'd love to buy your old ones
If you want brighter lights on the cheap (respectively) I use & love the BRIGHT-BOX. It keeps your low beams on when you go to high beams

I have projectors on mine with the H1 bulb, and I think they are terrible. Looking to go back to stock with some LED's or at least silverstars. They just seem to wash out. I even upgraded to the fancy SYLVANIA H1 SilverStar zXe High Performance Halogen Headlights and one blew up like in a week.

That's what I'm thinking of doing in the mean time as a quick fix, upgrade the bulbs.

If you want some easy and quick light output, swap Chevy hi-beam 9005 bulbs into the foglights. Plug'n'play, bumps the output to 65w bulbs. I've had them in my housings for three years and zero issues with overheating or melting the housings. I don't even use the headlights around town anymore.

Before a tuner check into things that monitor. Scangauge 2 with x gauges, Edge CTS or others. The 6.0l section has a lot of helpful people that have done the same thing and more than you have.

Also what kind of maintenance has been done?

so fail #1... I climbed and contorted under the dash and found the code for the door. Went inside to write it down while I remembered it and try to figure out how to read mirror write... and right there on the table lies open the little portfolio I pulled out of the truck last night with the manual, and right there is the little card with the code staring back at me #*******
