My dummy question of the day
#61
Will soon have a yellow tape box arriving here to fix up the leaky hpop reservior, also gonna go ahead and do the orings, and hpop gasket, and IPR reseal....postal carrier let me down on this one..should have been here Saturday..but it just sat at the PO undelivered...oh well...Clay sent it superfast...to bad the postal workers didn't comply with that..lol...
At any rate I have a new "Dummy Question of the Day"
When I bought the truck there was an unkown amount of fuel in the rear tank, been there an unknown amount of time, I didn't switch tanks had just been running of the front tank. When I would prepay for fuel if I overestimated the amount to fill the front tank I would just put the remaining amount in the rear tank.. Still untested at that time...well my soon to be 4yr old loves to sit in Daddy's truck, and he evidently switched tanks on me...which is fine because now I know it works...what i don't know is the quality of that fuel... So my question to you guys is there a preferred fuel additive that I can add? Just to ensure its not all slimy nasty diesel? I looked at some stuff at Oreillys but didn't buy anything because I am learning to ask here before I leap...turns out to save me money and headaches if I get some reliable input from you guys...
Apologies for running on an on...

Well I have had issues with Old fuel in my diesel tractor, but I don't know if any of that had anything to do with the dye used in farm use diesel, or years of neglect/heavy use....I have had to remove the tank to clean it out twice. The diesel fuel had globs of black junk in it, algae I assume and other contaminants. I base most of diesel experience on what I have learned while working on it. Last year I replaced the entire fuel system on the 245 just because I was tired of fooling with it.....well most of it...I cleaned the injectors and replaced all the fuel lines, filter, pre screen filter in the tank, and the pump. It's a job I never want to do on the truck.

Thanks...did you have good results with it? I have run different biocides in the tractor with good results..but I am way more particular with my truck

Yeah it's just the Power Service most of us use for added lubrication and higher cetane numbers. It doesn't kill algae I don't think

Well I have considered trying some additives for higher cetane numbers, so it's worth a shot....still looking for an algae killer I can feel comfortable with
