What are our trucks worth?

Hello, I am a new and proud owner of a 1973 Ford F250. I have never owned anything like this before, and the only reason I do now is because I got a great deal. For some reason I feel like I got too good of a deal now. The truck is a single cab long bed, it has dual tanks, two tone original paint job, original radio and even factory a/c. The odometer shows 86,000 and it has a 360 V8 and really the only flaws are the surface rust that has developed and the doors have holes from different side mirrors over the years and a few big dents. My question is how much are these trucks actually worth these days? I would love to hear some unofficial appraisals from what you see in the pictures because I have zero knowledge with these trucks and would like to learn and not get taken advantage of if I decide to not attempt to restore it. Thanks for all of your insight

Welcome to FTE.. Solid truck!

These trucks are worth 1000$ rusted out to 6-7000$ in near perfect shape.. Crew cabs go for a little more completely restored around here..

Would need a few more details but looking at the pics and reading your description yes I would call yours rusted. If it's running strong I would have paid 500-1000 for it depending on other factors such as trans, cab mounts, floor pans, axles.... Others maybe more, some maybe less. What did you give?

I get 1500 for one like that but it had sentimental value.

Doesn't look rusted out to me...I'd say that'd be a 1500-2000 dollar truck around here.

Looks like a great starting point for a project... assuming not too much hidden rust. If you enjoy working on them and have a place to do it, you can have a really nice and useful truck. That's the value. Don't expect to make money fixing it up and selling it though.

I am happy taking care of mine because it is fun to do, the truck is fun to drive and I need a truck time to time. When I look at what new ones go for - $40 or 50k !! - I am glad I have a reliable older one and am happy spend some money taking care of it.

Hell, that truck isn't half bad. Where I'm from, that'd be a 2500-3K truck all day long.

No offence, but to me it looks like a very common $500 to $1000 truck around here in the midwest, but most folks would ask $2300 to $3500 for it. F250 2wd common farm truck, but 4wd always sells better.

It does look to be in overall good shape, with light surface rust. Some folks cal that "patina" and ask crazy prices to own a vehicle with it. lol Need some interior, under the hood pics and might as well get a underside driveline pic.

I guess $1850 is what it cost you? It seems to me that out west and out east these trucks can be worth more.

I like the thin dent trim, that is not common, and the wide 3" bottom trim is a rust magnet and hider of the devil.

Go get a cheap and at most auto parts stores Chilton or Hanes manual to learn the basics of up keep and maintenance on it.

The side mirrors, clear bug guard and the bumper mounted driving lights are the only thing's that seem to not be stock or original on it.

As long as the roof isn't rusted out above the driver side you should have a good deal. My 79 has made me about $1100 and I've only have driven it about 50 miles, I made about $300 on the purchase.

other than the wrong tailgate and mirror heads it looks to be a solid truck. i will be slammed for saying this but its worth a lot more if you part it out. price just depends where you live. and the miles cant be proved at all. depending on how the dash pad looks and door panels i see easily 1800 to 2000 grand in parts. its not a 4x4 or anything rare. when i look at a truck and some one tells me it rare its hardly ever the case. crew cabs arent even that rare. finding one that isnt all rusted out now thats rare. the only rare trucks out there are the 79 one tons.

Oh boy did you steal that rig for sure! That is an awesome deal on a truck, even for a parts rig, let along one that runs after a little work.

If those are period-correct Lucas auxiliary lamps, they could be worth some serious coin to California Special (Mustang) or Shelby Mustang owners doing a restoration.

For that rig, figure $1500 to $2000 in the SF Bay Area.

X2 on that one!
You definitely stole it.
As for the value, that's kinda like asking "How high is up?" Everyone is going to have a different answer. A LOT depends on the overall condition, I wouldn't call your truck rusted if there's only surface rust. To me "rusted" means cancerous rust, usually found in the floor pans, cab corners and the rear wheel wells, also along the roof drip rails. If these are all good then I would say you have a solid truck.
The other big determination of value is the area you're in. Location has a lot to do with the value.
