2004 5.4l won't turn over PATS flashibg

So I was driving home today, I had some issues a couple of weeks ago with it stalling in the rain, it was raining today. As I was driving, the truck dies and won't restart. It wasn't like it stalled, it was almost like someone shut it off. Then it wouldn't restart, won't turn over, the PATS light flashes quickly and there is a clicking sound under the dash. I tried the battery pull and nothing. Ended up having it towed home. Help?

Has your fuel pump driver module (FPDM) been changed? If not I would check that first. It's located on the frame cross member above the spare tire and is prone to corrosion and cracking. It would certainly act up in the rain. New ones come with stand offs that keep them away from the frame. Search FPDM and there's lots on this.

I live in MA and if yours has survived this long with the nasty crap they put on the roads here in the winter you've been lucky.

Would that cause the PATS to go crazy?

Ok. Update time. I found the fuse for the PCM power was blown. My buddy is on his way with a new fuse and we will see what's going on then. My father thinks it could have gotten wet and tripped something. I just don't understand what could have caused this. Any idea?

Jr105,

You may be right on point. Once we changed the fuse the truck now cranks but no fuel. There is also a burnt electrical smell towards the rear of the truck. Going to attempt to replace today and we shall see.

Good info as to what can happen with a bad FPDM.

Was your's badly corroded and open on the back against frame?
