1960-66 F-100 Crown Vic IFS install

Hello, I am considering the Crown Vic IFS front suspension swap and have a couple of questions. First if I use the Crown Vic front suspension, can I use any engine or do I have to use the 4.6?? I want to go old school and use a 302 or 351W, with either the 5 speed trans or go with a C4 automatic. Any help with this project would be great. Thanks in advance

If you want to use the oem engine mounts, it all depends on where you cut/install the clip...but it's really not a biggie to build your own mounts.

I'm not using a clip, I'll be using just the Crown Vic's front suspension mounted to the existing frame rails. Is there anyone out there that's done this conversion and used the original engine or a crate 302...not the 4.6.

I am doing the same thing in a 69 F100. I already have the suspension and have rebuilt it how ever have not installed it yet. A few things I have run in to in my research is you will need a newer style power steering pump. Old style pumps can power the rack and pinion but do not have the volume to work properly so it will feel like the old manual steering and be stiff through out turning. My solution was the P series power steering pump with the teardrop shaped reservoir how ever im going to have to make custom mounts for it. Second problem I have encountered it the bolt pattern, the only hubs that I found for it are the 4.5 inch pattern where as the original for the truck and what I have are the 5.5 inch. Third issue is the breaks, a break booster is a must in my opinion going to disk breaks, and a proportioning valve will be needed as well other wise your rear axle will be locking up every time you try to stop. Fourth and I haven't much time in to this yet but worth mentioning is a steering shaft extension since the rack and pinion is much lower and forward of the stock gear box. As far as the engine mounts and perches am not to sure with as well. I am just going to build my own being that there is no manufactured mounts for this kind of application that I'm aware of and I want to drop and move the engine back if possible. Ill let you know what I come up with when I get to it in a few months.
