74 F100, Project low n slow
I thought I may as well start a project thread for my truck. Ive never had a build thread so bear with me. If you are looking for great step by step photos and award winning writing you might want to check a different thread, because you wont find that here
A quick history of the truck. My dad bought it from a guy he worked with for $800. It seemed to run great and was, for the most part, stock. My dad bought a cam intake and headers to put on it and we tore the top end down to install the cam. None of the pushrods were oiling , everything was caked with oil build up.
Jump ahead again, my dad starts wanting something new, and new as in older. He was wanting a 67 F100, and so gave me the 74. Shortly after taking possession of the truck the parts started coming in, and haven't really stopped, if you ask my wife
Some of my best purchases for the truck have been a short block 347 from anther site Im on, and a set of trick flow heads. Recently I purchased a T5 and am currently in the middle of the swap over from the original 4 speed to the T5.

Thank you gents.
I agree AK FORD GUY, on the keeping up with pics and posts.
My new clutch just came in. I had to go with a clutch for an 87 f150, so the pressure plate would clear the bell housing pivot stud for the clutch fork. Getting ready to head out to the garage here after dinner and see about getting it installed.
I forgot to add, I have a new black carpet from stock interiors waiting to go in as soon as I finish locating the new shifter hole in the transmission access panel. I will have to close up the current shifter hole and the hole where the clutch linkage goes through the floor board. I ordered a carpet kit for an extended cab so I could have extra carpet.

OK, little quick update. I thought I did my due diligence in selecting parts to complete the transmission swap I overlooked the possibility of 164 tooth flywheel pressure plate bolt patterns changing. So the new clutch I had last night would not bolt up to my flywheel, end result....new flywheel will be here tomorrow. Gotta love living this close to summit racing. I decided to get a new rear main seal, and oil pan gasket while I was this far into it.

OK, update.
I finally have my flywheel, clutch and pressure plate all in place as well as the transmission mounted and clutch cable run(though still a work in progress). One caveat- the new flywheel and pressure plate threw me for another loop, the standard 5/16 pressure plate bolts that ford seems to use would not work, so I had to go to 3/8 bolts a la *cough*sbc*cough*....to get it all bolted to the flywheel. I'll see what I can do about getting part numbers too incase anyone may be interested in doing something similar.
I have managed to mount my cable quadrant to the existing clutch pedal assembly. I will try to get pictures of that when I go back out to the garage. I still need to patch the hole in the floor from the old clutch linkage and finalize the hole in the firewall for the clutch cable. The transmission tunnel cover plate needs to have a new hole added and the old one welded shut.
So there is still a bit to do, but one at a time, slowly but surely getting there. I will try to get pictures for the next update. Oh and vacation started yesterday for me!!
