While farting around swapping the balancer I decided to do this.

Much better.

Here's a before and after. Can you tell which is which?
Sorry about my terrible phone camera.

What type of paint did you use to paint your distributor cap? A plastic paint or just regular stuff? I want to paint mine too and it looks like yours turned out good

I just used regular paint. Be sure to clean it well beforehand, I missed a couple spots and had a couple fisheyes.

Thanks RustED. I have some camera filters on that pictures to make it look crazy, but I'm happy with how the paint came out.

Good afternoon gentlemen. I hope everyone is enjoying their weekend.

I took a stroll through the local yard last week and spotted something I thought I had to have, so yesterday morning I went and picked up my new to me rear axle. It is from a 2008 mustang gt. I haven't really had much time to check it out. As soon as I got it home and unloaded I sprung a suprise 10th anniversary trip to the coast on my wife. Of the ten years almost 7 have been with kids. This was the first time we'd spent away from them. Couldn't have asked for better weather. If you ever find yourself in Lincoln City Oregon check out J's fish n chips for lunch. The 101 Roadhouse had a tasty prime rib for dinner and good atmosphere.

So without further ado, subpar pic time

I'll be running it in the three link set up. I don't know if I'll use a panhard bar or watts link.

Great score! Are you going to fab up the links or go with a welder series?

I'll probably buy link arms for the mustang and fab the frame mounts, unless I can find decent adjustable frame mounts somewhere.

That's going to be an awesome setup, and rear disc brakes are going to be sweet! How does the mustang axel measure up to the stock one as far as width?

Can't wait to see the install!

If I'm remembering correctly the mustang rear end measures to 65.5 inches. From what I've found my current axle is supposed to be 65.25. So I'll probably have to de-flare my bedsides, due to currently running 1.25 inch thick adapters, unless I go to a 12 inch wide wheel width

Evening all.

Not much of an update, so a picture update. I'll need to sell my 9 inch rear to fund the parts and pieces to do the mustang rear swap. Took her out for an early morning cruise.

just wondering here, why are you going to a 8.8 instead of the 9 inch?

A couple reasons I guess. First it's already designed to be used in a three link suspension design, and it shares the same bolt pattern as the crown vic swap up front.
