1986 5.0 Miss at idle and skip under load
I have replaced plugs, cap wires, ECM and ignition control module. Did I say it is an EFI? At idle it has an inconsistent idle (no rhythm). At high idle (1500 rpm) it has a somewhat consistent miss. On hill under load it wont get out of its own way very irregular miss (skip/cutout). If I let it high idle up the hill it continues to miss but accelerates to second gear. I could sure use some suggestions. Just reconnected the battery so I don't have any codes.

Have you checked for codes?
If you did, did you receive a system pass code if 11? Or did you not receive codes at all?
Just a long shot, try disconnecting the EGR, block it off with a piece of sheet metal or soda can and then bolt it back to the intake. I ran into a similar issue and the EGR was at fault. But it's anyone's guess.
Let us know what you find out.

Thanks - Darn Smog
Thanks TimberSteel,
I will run it this morning until it warms up and pull the codes.
I had my suspicions on some sort of vacuum leak and that is probably exactly what is going on. I broke several of those hard lines going to the EGR system and did a hasty fix. I will check out your fix today and let you know. Now that I think about it, it does get worse as the truck warms up.
I have a great wrecking yard with several older F150s and have almost completely replace the smog system - but the EGR is a mess. Is the Beer Can and Form A Gasket a fix I can leave in for awhile?

Sorry for the delay in posting, life keeps getting in the way of working on my truck. Ran the KOEOT and got two 31 and 43 with every thing stock and warm. Off to parts hose to get new EGR and Solenoid. I don't think this is it but I want to fix before I run timing check.
