Locking hub not going in new hub assembly on truck

Got two new Moog hub/bearing assemblies for my 02 F250 4WD. Installed the passenger side assembly today, but can't get the locking hub to install. It slides into the second Moog hub assembly (on the bench) no problem and both Moog hub bearings are the same part number and look identical.

The question I have is about the brake shield. It installs on two of the hub bearing bolts, so technically one half of the hub assembly would stick out 1/32" more than the other side (whatever the thickness of the dust sheild is).

Could there be enough of a difference to cause the axle shaft to be a little off center? There weren't any washers or anything that fell out of the hub when it came off, just the dust shield. The axle spline is the same, it wasn't changed out.

Help appreciated.
