replacement dash

Hi folks,
I'm looking through the LMC catalogue. All my Old Fords need their padded dash replaced (they range from a couple of 1981's to a 1993). Have any of you used the molded plastic replacement dash that LMC sells? Catalogue states their replacement units "install quickly over your existing dash without the use of special tools."
Opinions please...

I've read mixed reviews. While they lack the original look, they're a big improvement over the ACB* effect that so many of us are dealing with (including me). Quality replacement dashes or JY finds are few and far between. And there are higher-end options, of course.

I'm leaning towards a cover myself for Festus.

Rock Auto and JBG also sell them, at good prices, just over $100 plus shipping. There's a good probability that they're all made by the same company, Coverlay Coverlay - Dashboard Covers, Door Panels, & Kick Panels

I consolidated this off of their website; I think it's correct, 13 colors available plus two other custom greys (?).

Thanks for the info. All of my trucks suffer the same problem...entire dash looks good, except where the little holes are for the speaker. All of my trucks have the holes caved in.

You are not alone, brother.

This was my temporary fix - a fake speaker, made with craft products. It's still holding up three years later, though I have a couple more cracks that have crept inward...

That worked well!
I've got (I think) 5 trucks that need dash replacements. I think you're right - I suspect all those snap-in covers likely come from the same manufacturer. I'll order one from the outfit you mentioned & one from LMC, & see if there's any difference.
I'm told it costs lots $ to get stuff shipped up here to Canada, but LMC offers free shipping on $1,000 orders to continental USA. I'm getting a bunch of stuff shipped to my Montana address shortly...I'll get them to include a dash cover as well.

For $345 you can buy a new one from JBG, and paint it to match your interior. Dash Pad, Black, 80-86-Broncograveyard.com

Y'know, I saw that on their website (LOVE those guys), and had to wonder ...

It states "Made with original Ford tooling".

Do you think they're still using that saltine cracker foam underneath it?

That is one long and comprehensive thread, and looks like everything was discussed - it would be great to see more photos of the replacement dashes and covers, though ...

Since it was organized (born) here on the forum, I wonder what I.B. would say about putting the FTE logo on the dash patch?
It could fit discreetly on the cross and from what I remember on Shapeway's website could be as little as 0.2mm relief.

I need to find a new dash bolster for my '87 dash...
