Brights not bright on 2015 Ford F-150 - Halogens

Hello,

I just got a 2015 Ford F-150 XLT and have swapped the bulbs for the Sylvania Ultra's that usually work better then the factory bulbs. Low Beams look a lot better with the ultra's installed, the Brights however only put out minimal light and honestly I think my Fog lights put out more light than my Brights do. Anyone else made this observation?

Unfortunately in the world of reflector based lamps "better" bulbs don't always yield the results vehicle owners expect. And the design team for the bulbs have certain criteria they focus on, where the team on the reflector have a different set of criteria. Sometimes the two don't overlap all that well. I used to be part of the teams that developed the manufacturing process for bulbs at both Sylvania (H13 was my last) and Philips.

Some may suggest this bulb vs that bulb, but the problem is the reflector.

lights

i think the yellow reflector inside the light housing causing a yellow effect of the head lights ,i took out the factory and put in the silver stare ultra and it made a big diff, just me, and my high beams have the blue tint,

I think some of the problem may be the amount of light inside the cabin of the 2015, which prevents your eyes from adjusting to the dark as much. So you need even brighter headlights to compensate; and since it's mostly blue light in the cabin it just compounds the problem, since blue light affects your night vision the most. It would be nice with such a large dash display, if Ford would implement some sort of night panel switch.

Good point. The blue dials and such on the dash look cool, but kill your night vision. Would probably be better to use red (or reddish) to try to preserve as much night vision as possible. There is a dimmer built into the center control panel thingy.

Red in the cabin would work great. We turn red lights on at night in the interior of all the ships in the Coast Guard so that we don't lose our night vision.

Red would be a nice option, but I can understand Ford wanting to use blue since its their corporate color. At least it's a fairly white blue - I drove an Audi once that had really electric blue lighting and it was actually annoying.

But I could see Ford adopting something like a night panel that switches off anything unnecessary. That was one of my favorite things about my old Saab, and is one of those things that once you've used it, you can't imagine why every car doesn't have it. I especially liked the way it would turn on individual gauges when needed. Like so...

I agree. I am having a hard time seeing out at night. We tinted our side drivers and passenger windows, so that does not help either. In a town where the lighting is dim, it is hard for me to see out. My Wife likes the cab really bright at night, but she says she does not have this issue, like me.

The headlight LED are amazing!! I drove in some remote country side without any street light for 30 miles in farm land on a really dark evening. These light light up the countryside like it was daylight, the best headlights I have ever seen. These are worth the money spent. I almost hit 3 skunks that night, I think these lights helped me miss each of them too.
