Ranger Power Steering O Ring

Hi everyone. I have a question on my 2008 3L 2wd ranger power steering pump pressure hose. The kit came with 2 black o rings. The rack side fitting has a groove for the oring but the pump side fitting just has the external white teflon seal on but no groove to put the oring as described in the diagram that came with it( Swivel oring Type 2). Is that oring just an extra and not needed? I cannot push the fitting down to show a groove anywhere, just a reverse flare. If I put the oring on the hose fitting , it just sits barely on the flare. Any suggestions?Thank you.
