pull all the glow plugs and hook the starter up. I user a momentary switch to engage the starter.

Pulling the bumper makes it such that you don't have to lift that 1,000 pound monster as high to get it out of the truck.

Maybe this is a silly question, but you do know that you have to crank the engine over with the starter to do the compression test, correct? It's probably easier to do the test with the engine in the truck so you can hook the wiring up.

My budy has a crane hoist right over the engine bay that is attached to the steel roof joist...

I understand the cranking of the engine but we have the batteries, a custom built stand, and the trigger tool for bumping it over (what ever its called)...

Ok I see. I did a complete engine overhaul. My compression numbers ranged from 250-405 I think it was. One cylinder got something in it. With the rebuild kit comes all new seals and gaskets, I also swapped in the superduty valve cover gaskets too. Having the motor out I would do the oil cooler, bellowed up pipes. Any orings on the back of the motor, oil pan, and e-fuel. Not that e-fuel is hard motor in, it's just easier motor out.

I did notice an up pipe leak this weekend so that is on the list.
new core support mounts are in hand
New oil pan is already at the shop...

turbo boots are on the list
turbo rebuild is on the list
glow plugs are on the list
oil cooler best to replace or clean out and reuse?
new radiator hoses are on the list - clamps too
Debating on water pump, thermostat, UVCH, and riffraff plenums since it is all apart....
What do the super duty valve covers get us?

I am strugling with efuel cost as I am doing a tranny rebuild...on top of everything else...
