Smile newbie

Greetings.. I'm new to the list but a longterm veteran of the JAG-LOVERS numerous forums(I own 5).
I have a 98 F150 4.2 with 95K. It has been very faithful with no problems except a 3rd gear synchro by warranty at 35K. It has recently had loss of power and stumble, so I replaced the plugs with no improvement. Also replaced brake pads but there is less than desirable braking power. What should I try next in order of minimum time/expense? I currently don't have a garage and it is monsoon season in the AZ desert!
Also, what's the latest word on longevity for the 98 run??

Welcome to FTE Jag.First off, what plugs did you go back with?If it wasn't Motorcraft you will most likely have problems.Did you change the wires too?Motorcraft wires recommended there too.Other things to look at are;cleaning the MAF sensor, changing the fuel filter, clean or replace the IAC.One other thing is the front two O2 sensors are going bad.Keep us posted on what you do to fix it.Good luck!
