Dayum!! I like the blue lens, and the machine work looks really good for the vents. The interior on this thing just looks incredible.

Love how you made the compressor light. A fine sacrifice for an old screwdriver! Dash looks great, man!

Muy Mexicano amigo... use what you have, and be creative.. the sign of a true artist. I love it.. Hey, does your 4K tach work?? It looks great.. I have an old Sun in the tach hole in my dash, and would love to find one of those you have... My motor is a 300 IL 6 so I do not need more than 4K anyway.. I've had the old 6K Sun tach since the '70's, but one of the original 4K's would be great...

Anyway... nice job on the light.. it looks great..

Thanks Baja, I don't know if the tach. works, I hope to get the engine started soon....so we'll find out. Finding the electronic tachs. is really difficult, the cable driven tachs. are pretty easy to find on ebay. I got a new VDO 270° sweep, 4k tach. I want to try to use with the needle and dial from a cable driven tach. I have. I'm still trying to figure out how to mount the old dial on the new tach body.

When you get it 'Dialed in' ha ha ha... humor you know?... let me know how it works... Nice job on the light, I have the same idea for the winch engaged light, but will now use your screwdriver handle idea, to make my own.. My lathe is an old, 1952 ShopSmith though, so it will not be as easy as you have it... no fear, I will preserver and get it done.. I doubt that it will be as pretty, but function first, form later has been my working motto for years.. Get it done, and then make it pretty...

Your work breaks trail for we who follow.. Thanks amigo

I'm back because ot you Gavin and a bit of help from Garrett. Thanks again Gavin. So I just caught up on your thread. Man. that dash looks Awesome. I wish I was there in person to see it personally. A camera can't do the justice to things like your rig that the human eye does.

Hi Baja, old lathes are really cool and tough as nails. I love my '56 South Bend.

Here's the VDO air-core movement, dial, needle and housing.

I just need some time to figure out how to assembled it and get it dialed in.

No problemo buddy, it's great to see you back on FTE!

Early Sunday afternoon I was getting ready start the engine. I had been cranking it without and spark plugs to get oil pressure, then I installed the #1 plug and got the timing set to 10° BTDC. I got some new gas and added some Sta-bil to it, dropped the fuel hose into the gas and cranked a little more until BANG, the #1 cylinder fired! So we put the rest of the plugs in connected the wires and made a redneck happy!

Question, I drained the gas out of the line to the fuel pump, that's it. It will be a couple of months before I put fuel in the tank and run the engine. Do I need to drain the gas from the carb. or fuel pump?
