Any sound deadener advice?

Going to order some sound deadener. I plan to do the floor under the carpet. What about the door and the roof? behind the gas tank? Should I put some on the inside of the outer door skin? On the back of the door access panels? Under the roof liner? Any brand recommendations? Install tips?

Lotsa brands on the market - Dynamat, Fatmat, Boom Mat, etc.

Order the bulk pack to stretch your dollars.

Roll the material with a J-roller. Press hard.

Shifter tunnel cover... skin it separately and carefully so ya don't have to dig up the 3/8-inch screwheads nor cut a parting line.

Yes, do the doors skins.. Some will also apply it to the metal under the door panels.

To save a few dollars...you don't have to cover every single square inch like you seen in pics on hot rodder sites. They tend to over do it.

Welcome to Sound Deadener Showdown | Sound Deadener Showdown

This is what I will be doing when I get the funds. Pretty good details in how to go about it too.

I put it every where that would be covered up, it does make a big difference. I don't know if one brand's is better then the other, but the best bang for the buck I found was Summit Racing's brand. when it came the box's was marked with the Hush Mat name on them. It took 2 boxes to cover every thing.

When I fixed up an old Taurus of mine, I used Eastwood's Dynamat type material. Beware though, I have heard some bad reviews on it melting at extremely low temps. Personally would recommend Dynamat. I plan on using it for my bump.

No reason to buy into big name brands.

Did a family member's Falcon with some stuff we found at Lowes for a fraction of the price of these "name brand" sound deadeners.

I think it was considered to be something for roofing, but it had the reflective material look.

Worked great. Made a huge difference, especially with the doors.

GT Mat on Ebay looks reasonable.

Used dynamat on my 69 F100. It has not been through any hot Texas days yet, so don't know how the roof liner and door liners will stand up yet. Rolled it as hard as I could with the provided roller. Did not cover the hump real well and did not do it under the seats, just floor boards, doors and roof. Still it made a big difference. Tin can sound has dissipated somewhat and the doors feel more solid.
I did have one batch of the stuff that did not stick well - took it back to oreilley's and they swapped it out.

Like Mr King I used material intended for construction. Asphaltic, aluminum-backed, about 24" roll, "peel 'n stick". Pretty heavy. Came adhesive-backed but I added spray adhesive to both surfaces. I covered the entire floor, the roof panel, and inside the doors. I'll do behind the gas tank and on the firewall and kick-panels later. It doesn't smell and is still stuck to the roof after getting pretty hot many times. Best of all - it can be free if you or a friend work in construction.
I have used Noise-killer in the past and this stuff seems as good.

I have used this and it works great. Its alot cheaper than dynamat and easier to put on.

I bought the Summit brand too. It was actually Dynamat? with a summit part number on the box. Much cheaper then buying Dynamat. I got the larger box with like 6 pcs in it(12x32"--sumthing like that)? Like $50?
