Fan Hub Bolt Needed

While re-assembling my fan hub and pulley on my 51 F1, I manage to snap a bolt in half. I went out today doing a search and find with no luck.

Does anyone one know where I can get a bolt?

The shop manual says it is a 1 1/4" long x 12-32 threads. The hex head is 3/8"

Thanks,
Scott in Texas

Where do you see it in the manual (Parts CD)? I think they are longer than 1.25", I have one apart and will measure. I think the 12-32 is right, unfortunately. You might check with The Ford Bolt Man, Roy Nacewicz Enterprises Ltd - Ford Bolts

Yep, the length is correct. Be sure to get either an original bolt or a new one that is Gr 5.

The problem is, there is no such animal to be found! It seems that folks have been hunting these obsolete bolts for several years and nobody has them.

I've been told that Roy doesn't have them.

I just finished pulling the flathead out of the '50 F6 so I now have eight of them.

But Mark, if the whole hub assembly is good, they are no longer made either, so they are scarce.

The bearing fan spindle gave out on mine last summer and NOBODY had that part anywhere. I finally found a used assembly from a local guy that I had to take apart and rebuild. I saw a couple of used one's later that sold on eBay for close to $100 each.

Is the assembly the same on the sixers and on the V8's?

Okay, I took mine off of my V8. I have the complete assembly and it doesn't look anywhere near new, but it works fine as far as I can tell.

Unless someone comes up with one, I'd see if you can use a 1/4-28. It's barely larger but enough you could probably re-tap the horseshoe retainer. There are threads on multiple sites going back 10 years by people looking for them, no one had any luck. Some old rifles used them in 1"-long for scope mounts, but they go for $18 - $20 EACH....
